Bolton development will be the biggest ilke Homes scheme in the North West

A pioneering Bolton development is poised to become the first of its kind in the borough following a decision to install 22 modular, offsite manufactured homes from ilke.

Trailblazing on both local and national levels, the scheme is among the first of this size and type in the country. It offers a window to the future of construction and will demonstrate the ease and efficiency with which an entire estate of modular homes can be built in around half the time of traditional construction methods.

The two and three-bedroom homes on land off Victory Road, Little Lever, have been made possible by Homes England’ s grant funding and the development will be develiered by the principal contractor, Engie Regeneration, in partnership with ilke Homes.

The completed project will serve to demonstrate how modular housebuilding can alleviate construction skills shortages and add industry capacity – helping reach the government target of building 300,000 homes a year.

Dave Sheridan, Executive Chairman at ilke Homes, said: “Offsite manufacturing is having its breakout moment in the UK, and it is fantastic that Bolton is embracing the method and getting the borough’s first-ever modular homes underway.

He adds: “If we are to build the homes needed to address the UK’s housing crisis, then offsite manufacturing must be at the forefront of the housing revolution. Delivering high quality homes at scale requires coordinated action and a determination to do things differently, so it is great to be working alongside Bolton at Home, Homes England and ENGIE in manufacturing 22 homes for Little Lever.”

David Jones, Construction Managing Director, at ilke Homes concludes: “This scheme is poised to become an exemplar of community-focussed development and will provide a window to the future of housebuilding. We are very proud that ilke homes has been selected to deliver Bolton’s first ever offsite engineered homes. We’re looking forward to seeing the development complete and getting reaction from the local community.”

Work on the Little Lever development is expected to complete in March 2020.
