Celebrating International Women’s Day and Women in Construction Week.

This week we are championing the brilliant women at ilke Homes in celebration of Women in Construction Week and International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day 2022 theme is #BreakTheBias – in which we welcome the possibility of a gender-equal, diverse, equitable, and inclusive world which is free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.

We are revolutionising housing and pioneering a better way of building much-needed UK homes – and a key part of that is making sure that careers in manufacturing are fully accessible to women.

Compared to the construction industry as a whole, we already have a significantly larger percentage of women on our team at around 20%.

But the aim is to increase that number to more like 30% over the next couple of years because it’s really important to us that our homes are produced by a team that truly represents our diverse society.

And diversity builds a better team.

So, this week we are running a social media campaign championing the brilliant women at ilke Homes by joining the global campaign to make change happen.

Mark Chilvers, our executive director of operations kicked off this week’s celebrations and we’ve heard the personal stories of Emily Isaacs, Rachel Kaye, Elif Ertas, Sorella Oldham-Smith and Rebecca Moore. These are just a few of the amazing, hard-working women we have working at ilke Homes.

Our vision at ilke Homes is to create an inclusive and equitable workplace for everyone, regardless of background. We are committed to ensuring everyone has the opportunity to be their best and realise their full potential.

We will continue in every way we can to #BreakTheBias.
